The country and the world are currently dealing with an outbreak of a new virus. It is thought to have originated from food markets in China.

For most people, the virus will produce only mild flu like symptoms including a cough or fever. These people can manage their symptoms at home with fluids, rest and simple over the counter remedies. There is no need to contact the 111 service or see a GP if you are not feeling unwell.

The small minority of patients who do become more unwell with COVID19 infection can access help by contacting the 111 service.

DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY IF YOU A COUGH, FEVER OR FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS

It is important that those people carrying the COVID19 virus do not attend the surgery as it is vital that the surgery is kept free of the virus so that we can care effectively for those elderly and vulnerable patients who have a higher risk of complications from the virus.

TELEPHONE FIRST SERVICE

NHS England requires the practice to move to a telephone fist service. This means that all patients will be spoken to first on the telephone before being advised whether or not they should come to the surgery for an appointment. If it is safe for you to be seen at the practice and an appointment is needed then we will arrange this.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

If you live with someone who has these symptoms then you will also need to sef-isolate.

You do not need to contact NHS 111 to tell them you’re staying at home.
